Mdm Esah Lim had been worried about the long-term care for her son with autism should she pass on. She also did not wish to bother her two daughters as they have their own families.
With the help of Ray of Hope, a non-profit organisation in Singapore, an online crowdfunding campaign was done to raise $5,000, which helped Mdm Esah Lim to set up a trust account with SNTC for her son with the initial deposit of $5,000.
With the trust set-up, Mdm Esah Lim has been able to make arrangements such as completing her CPF or insurance nominations to top up the trust monies for her son upon her demise. The trust monies are also safeguarded for son’s future care needs, and SNTC continues to provide support and guidance in helping Mdm Esah Lim to make plans to transit her son to a disability home in future.
Mdm Esah Lim’s story was first covered in an article “Non-profit helps mum with starting fund for autistic son” by The New Paper on 18 May 2017.
